summer vacation part 1

A little over a week ago we, the Schmidts, took a road trip. Our first stop was just a few hours away in Chetek, WI to celebrate my grandparents 50th wedding anniversary! Most everyone in their jammies, we left early Saturday morning starting out doing Tim's paper route with him in our already over loaded van.
I was trying to get a picture of everyone amongst the stuff crammed in every nook and cranny, but this was the best I could do in my position during the paper route :)

This is my mom's family from left to right: My Mom and Dad, Sheryl, Craig, Grandma and Grandpa, Lynne, Orin and Leslie

One handsome little guy enjoying some cake. After the party we headed over to my aunt Leslie's farm complete with cows, pigs, and lots of room to roam. The kids love it here and did lots of exploring and getting dirty! We had a bon fire and cookout.

B and Ethan enjoying their meal on the hay bales.
I didn't get a picture of it for some reason, but the little girls spent their evening on a large mound of sand, they were filthy! So what better remedy than a bubble bath! I got the girls in, and left them alone for a couple minutes to go organize our stuff for the night and next morning (we spent the night there and left early the next morning). I heard a lot of giggling which is to be expected, but then heard Orin, Hailey's dad, say, "What are they doing in there?" I replied naively, "Taking a bath." I think he thought there was a little too much giggling going on and peeked in. The next thing I heard was him saying, "LESLIE, GET IN HERE!!!"

This is what we found. They had turned the switch on for the jets in the tub which made the bubbles multiply tremendously, reaching many areas of the bathroom including the ceiling! It was hilarious, yet a lesson learned not to leave these to mischievous girlies alone.

We spent the night there with them and left the next morning at 5 on our way to Michigan. More to come in the next post!
