spontaneity and frugality?

...check.

It was a beautiful fall day yesterday here in MN. Temps almost reaching 80 degrees, breezy, sunshiney. I just couldn't resist to be out in it all day since the forecast is calling for snow by the end of the week. Ugh.
I am not a spontaneous person in any way, but yesterday at 10:30am I ditched the laundry and breakfast dishes and decided to take the kiddos to the
zoo. It felt a bit unorganized but invigorating at the same time. Usually if it's not on the calendar 3 weeks prior...we don't do it (i know this is a little controlling, and by God's grace I'm working on it!). After a few stops along the way and a quickie nap for Graycen in the van, we made it there by 12:30. I did bring my camera, but unfortunately did not take any pictures. So, sorry to disappoint you if that's all you check for on my blog.

Another accomplishment...I exercised my frugal spending skills. On the way we stopped at McD's and ate for $3.20. Now, I realize I could have spent nothing and made a lunch from home, but then that wouldn't have been very spontaneous now would it. I did bring some snacks though :) We got into the zoo for FREE by using our membership (which we did not pay for...thanks Lynnie!) I resisted to buy ice cream cones at the zoo for a ridiculous price of $3.69 each!!!, despite the huge pleading eyes of my napless children.
Then, on the way home I got gas for $1.80 a gallon!

Today's to do list:
  • laundry
  • laundry
  • laundry
  • vote
  • return 2 items to 2 different stores
  • laundry
  • put laundry away
  • read 17 chapters of required reading from 3 different books

coming soon...up close and personal with Graycen, and halloween photos.

your list looks like mine, except you probably have the gumption to get it done! I'm glad you had a spontaneous (and successful) outing!
